Love - The Three Kinds.

Posted on Jun 20th, 2006 by Ian Gardner : Mystic Ian Gardner
One kind of love is affection - normally considered to be love in a less intense form. Affection is variable according to the factors influencing it - it is a 'worldly' phenomenon and impermanent.
The second kind is that which stems from the emotions and/or the sensations. Thus, at times it may seem to be sensational, but it is still emotional because it is an emotional reaction to one's sensations. This we can term emotional love. Emotional love is variable according to the factors influencing it - it is a 'worldly' phenomenon and impermanent.
The third kind of love is undefineable; it is an 'aspect' of the Great Spirit or Thought - and, therefore, an 'aspect' of us as Spirit. In us it is our subconscious awareness of our Oneness with our absolute state - the Great Spirit. This we can call fundamental love and fundamental love is a constant - it is not a 'worldly' phenomenon but has a worldly influence and is permanent.
Affection and emotional love are universal phenomena whereas fundamental love just is.

Hay Ian,

I read once, quite a while back and don't remember the author … but an even more detailed breakdown… several kinds of Love.

1. Love a mother gives a child… nurturing, unconditional… etc…

2. Love between sibligs, peers … early childhood years

3. Love in teen years, maybe like puppy love,

4. Mature love between husband wife… stays with the ups and downs of life's struggles, etc.

5. Love of community … volunteering and giving back (like Jimmy Carter building homes for humanity)

6. Love of God… sort of the Divine love… Rumi, etc…

= = =

now I may have added some or not expressed some, I apologize to the author, I have to now search and find that book, so I don't mess this up again… but you get the “gist” of it…

And the main point is that if one of these kinds of love is missing … i.e. our love bucket of that type of love is empty or partially empty … we crave it … before we can feel fulfilled…

So … (I think this is in the book) … if you have a kid acting up… give him/her the Love #1, if you figure out that it was missig… or lead him/her to find Love # 2, if you figure that bucket is low, or empty… maybe you moved a lot and the kid lost his friends or was unable to make sustained friendships … and is now a “loner”… And what is “rape” … sexual craving? and / or missing one or more buckets of love?

I'm going to post this on my blog, if you don't mind.

Thanks for the love, brother,

Donald

Hi Donald,

I think you will find that all the types of love you quote fit under one of the three headings I have given. Your expansion of what I have written will be beneficial to many, even if only as a reminder of the variety that exists.

As I see it, only fundamental love is “permanent'.

Sure!!!! Feel free to post what you like.

I hope all is well with you.
